Rumi, “Peel your own image from the mirror.”

I wish I could spend the day reading Rumi to the people I love the most. But for now, this will do…
Happy Tuesday!

Love After Love
by Rumi

The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you have ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Thank you Jenna that was nice. I’m passing it on to my sister for inspiration. Hugs

” give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all of your life”. Such comforting words…we are so hard on ourselves.

  3. This poems belongs to Derek Walcott.

Here is a beautiful poem called ‘Time to Say New Things’ by Rumi:

How good it is to migrate every day!
How beautiful it is to stop somewhere every day!
How nice it is to flow without freezing and getting muddy!
What word that belongs to yesterday,
Is gone, my loved one, with yesterday,
Now is the time to say new things.
Now is the time to say new things.
