We had lots of fun out in East Hampton this weekend. It was my very first time out there, believe it or not! I have been desperate to go since loving the movie Something’s Gotta Give and the cooking show Barefoot Contessa, both of which take place out there. We rented a zipcar for the ride and were lucky enough to stay at a friend’s house for the weekend. The streets were lined with overgrown trees and ever yard was beautifully landscaped. One moment you were out in the middle of farm country, passing wineries and local farm-stands, and the next you were on the beach watching the seagulls fly over the sparkling ocean. It was the best of both worlds – country village and beach town – and such a magical place. Friday night we went to the Surf Lodge in Montauk where we shared a lobster roll and ran into some old friends, and Saturday night Joe’s brother had a get together (with a deejay!) at the house we were staying at. Sunday we woke up early, went to a farm stand to get fruits and veggies for the week, and then hit the road for our trip back to Manhattan. If there is one thing I remember and loved most from the weekend it’s laughing nonstop with Joe: one of my favorite ways to fill my cup. I feel blessed.
